A special shout out to all the new subscribers who have joined since the last newsletter went out. Thank you for valuing my work when there are so many things that can take your attention online. I appreciate you beyond words.
Before I get into today’s newsletter I have an ask…
I’d love for you to gift a subscription to someone you feel my words would resonate with. If you are in a position to spread some kindness by spending $7 or $70 (2 months free) to gift someone a subscription then please consider doing so.
We build community as a collective by combined effort, not alone.
This newsletter is a place for us to come together as one. A generation of healers and cycle-breakers who are committed to cleaning their heart, mind, and soul from all the garbage we’ve been fed to stop us from being our most authentic self. The words I share online are a small step in that direction.
If you’re not able to gift something right now, that’s ok. Instead, consider sharing my newsletter for free with them:
In the spirit of building a community, I’ll be featuring a shoutout to a paid subscriber and their work on the first Sunday of each month. Tune in next week to find out who it’ll be.
*I have an exciting announcement happening next week so stay tuned—I’m going to give you the behind the scenes on something I’m working on :)
Old Souls
“The soul comes from without into the human body, as into a temporary abode, and it goes out of it anew… it passes into other habitations, for the soul is immortal.” — Ralph Waldo Emerson
I wanted to put this collection of thoughts about old souls together because it can be difficult at times. It’s nice to know you are understood by someone else out there and are not the only one experiencing life in the way that you are.
We are all one connected by the invisible thread of life. If you are here then you are seen, heard, and understood by me.
The journey can be difficult at times. But, you are here for a reason.
What you are going through is not random.
There is a purpose even if you can’t find it, feel it, or believe it right now. It is easy to be thrown off your throne on some days and forget that you matter.
You do matter.
Your voice is needed.
Your life is part of something greater than even you or I can imagine.
If you’re an old soul like me you’ve probably experienced and felt some of the following:
(1) We have a sense of destiny.
You feel a deep calling that your life is meant for something greater than simply going through the motions. You feel depleted by the idea of living a mundane life. You’re here to make a dent in the Universe—to make a real difference during this incarnation. You are here to explore the boundaries of what is possible. You believe deeply in the idea of Kismet— a Turkish word used as a synonym for fate/destiny. You try to see everything in your life as interconnected and with meaning. You feel it is serving a higher purpose. You feel yourself as part of the fabric of the Universe. You take each step with intention and trust that there is divine guidance within you and around you working in your favour to help you discover how your life is meant to be spent.
(2) Our relationships require depth.
We don’t do surface level conversations. As a result, over time we may start to feel disconnected from those we grew up with. Our definition of family changes over time to those who are similar souls to us, instead of just those we are born with. When choosing a romantic partner we are not so concerned with appearance as much as we are with spiritual and intellectual nourishment. We value integrity, kindness, compassion, and vulnerability in relationships. We grow apart from those who do not reflect these qualities.
(3) Success looks different.
“Success” seems to take longer to come to us in life and our definition is different. Our career path isn’t straightforward. We may be all over the place when it comes to trying to understand what makes us feel successful. Our self-worth is initially tied to accomplishments but we quickly realise we need something far more satisfying for our soul. Success is about living a life with depth, meaning, and purpose. It is not about the length of life, but the quality of it. We know our success won’t look the way it does for many others.
(4) Healing is a requirement.
We find ourselves on the path of deep healing. We have lots of generational trauma that requires clearing. We are here to clean our biological bloodline and the soil of our soul to create a new reality. It can be very emotionally taxing to navigate this path as we are often the only ones doing so. However, we know there is no other option. We see things very clearly. We can sometimes be labeled insane and blamed for others emotional turmoil because we aren’t afraid to bring certain conversations to the table. We can be quick to go to compassion because we are very empathetic. However, this can be to our detriment. Sometimes we can be too understanding to the point we don’t honour our own boundaries and other emotions. We must allow ourselves to feel anger and sadness and set healthy boundaries where necessary for our peace.
