Soul Wisdom is a weekly newsletter. Please feel free to share parts of this letter that connect with you, or send to someone you love. A special shout out to all the new subscribers who joined since the last newsletter. Thank you for valuing my work when there are so many things that can take your attention online. I appreciate you. It means everything. 🖤
As always, I’d love for you to consider gifting a subscription to someone you feel my words would resonate with. If you are in a position to spread some kindness by spending $7 or $70 (2 months free) to gift someone a subscription then please consider doing so (all the money goes to supporting me as a writer).
We build community as a collective by combined effort, not alone.
This newsletter is a place for us to come together as one. A generation of healers and cycle-breakers who are committed to cleaning their heart, mind, and soul from all the garbage we’ve been fed to stop us from being our most authentic self.
The words I share online are a small step in that direction.
If you’re not able to gift something right now, that’s ok. Instead, consider sharing my newsletter for free with them:
Redefining ‘Home’
Recently I’ve been asking myself what ‘home’ is.
A cycle in life has come to an end for me as I leave my hometown where I lived with my parents and grew up, and move into a new apartment with my younger brother.
I have been carrying many burdens of responsibility for years. The diplomat, the shoulder to cry on, the problem solver, the parent.I used to find pride in being the hero but this year I’ve realised just how much it has exhausted me.
As autumn equinox in the UK is upon us, it is no surprise that I am in a period of letting go of energy that no longer serves me.
I feel the purification process continuing to take place within my soul (I wrote about purifying the soul earlier in the year you can read that here).
Whatever has expired in my life is naturally falling away.
I’m realising that I have never really felt at home anywhere.
This chapter in life is all about discovering what home means to me.
Whilst the physicality of your home may change as you move through life at its core it is a feeling more than it is a place.
A feeling of safety.
Being able to fully exhale and not feel hypervigilant all the time. Feeling nurtured and at ease. Feeling seen, heard, understood. Not feeling lonely (even though you may be alone).
Below are 5 areas where you can find a sense of ‘home’ in life:
1. Within Yourself
Do you feel like yourself?
Finding a home within yourself means being comfortable in your skin as a human. Fully embracing your personality and identity and expressing yourself authentically.
Home is also found in your own body. Nurture it and take care of it because it is where your soul lives. It is really the only physical home you have. Not feeling comfortable with who you are can lead to feeling trapped in your own body.
I felt that for years until I started taking care of my health and paying closer attention to my body. I let go of the expectations I carried about what I should look like all the time. I started prioritising peace and started sharing my own voice more unapologetically with people in my life.
Life becomes so much easier when you are honest about your truth.
No matter where you go, there you are, so always come back home to yourself.
2. Inside Another’s Heart
You can find home within other people who don’t judge you or put spoken or unspoken expectations on you.
This could be a romantic partner and/or close friends.
They make you feel safe to be fully you. They let you be totally comfortable and allow all sides of you shine. To be held in their presence without expectation of how you should be is a gift.
These people are special. Keep them close.
3. With The World
Do you feel lonely?
You can be alone and still feel connected. You can be with someone in a relationship and/or have lots of friends and still feel lonely.
Feeling connected to the rest of the world is a byproduct of being connected to yourself. I’ve found the more I have come home to myself and gone inward, the more I feel connected to others.
I also feel more connected to Mother Earth and nature in general. I often look up at the sky and feel that as the safe roof she provides over all of our heads.
4. A Physical Location
You can find home within the four walls of a physical location.
The desire to settle into a home becomes very real when you have felt unsafe in your home growing up.
To nurture your nervous system it is very important you have a place to feel safe. A place you can create as your own - where the energy isn’t being influenced by anyone else because it will be the foundation of how your life is built in any one chapter of your life.
The strength and depth of the roots you can lay into a place will have a direct impact on your ability to expand in every area of your life.
As a I ponder this truth I feel even more connection to trees and their ability to do this. The nutrients that come from their roots has a direct impact on their survival. I read a fascinating article about this yesterday. You can read more about that here.
5. Ancestry & Spirit
You can find home in being connected to your biological and spiritual ancestors.
The body you have right now is a byproduct of all the biological ancestors who came before you. They are not only watching over you but they live inside you.
Each of their life stories exist inside of you.
Taking an even broader lens, everything in life had to co-exist and co-create in harmony perfectly for the world to be what it is today.
Each of our souls come from a family of souls that we have had interactions with over many lifetimes. Have you ever met a stranger and you quickly feel a sense of belonging with them? You feel you may have met in a previous life?
Take the time to honour both your biological ancestry and soul ancestry.
They are with you right now.
You are not alone.
1 thing I’m loving right now
Recently a friend shared this album with me that I am obsessed with. Highly recommend listening from start to finish when you have the ability to really listen to the lyrics:
One love,
